Preschool Piano Buddies
Playing piano is so fun, and who better to share the fun with than preschoolers? Preschoolers and kindergarteners are at a great age to explore the piano and music in general. Preschool Piano Buddies is the perfect low-key introduction to piano lessons.
Session details: Preschool Piano Buddies is a 30-week program, 30 minutes each week, starting in the fall and finishing during the spring semester. Rather than private lessons, these lessons are for two preschoolers at a time to clap, play and dance together with me while we learn about the piano. This is a fun preparatory year of exploration of music on and off the piano bench. At the end of the 30 weeks, your child will have a wonderful foundation for private piano lessons.
Skills learned: We will explore musical patterns, learn left hand vs. right hand, practice finger independence, distinguish between long/short and high/low sounds, reinforce basic math skills (these are so essential to music!), exercise the musical ear ‘muscle’, learn basic piano-playing technique, and work on those fine motor skills. WOW! And the best part is: your child will have an early love for the piano because we will have so much fun!
Age and other requirements: You child must be potty-trained and able to properly hold and color with a crayon. Other than that, you may sign up if your child has only one more year until kindergarten, or will be in kindergarten this year. This preparatory year is a great option for those who want their kindergarteners to have an easy-going introduction to piano before beginning private lessons.
Practice expectations: No practice necessary! 😊 This program is an easy, yet solid, intro to piano. There will be just a few at-home ‘extras’ (such as playing a short musical game or listening to music), but most weeks there won’t be any outside assignments.
Parent/guardian involvement: While involvement here is required much less than private lessons, a little goes a long way for your preschooler. The more you listen to music at home and talk with them about it, the more they will flourish.
Tuition: $480 for entire 30-week, 30-minutes/week program, due in two $240 payments (one in the fall, one in early spring). A four-part payment plan is also available.
